Sheraton Utama Hotel LIGHTS OUT!!!

Sheraton Utama Hotel announced on KristalFM that they will be participating in Earth Hour, a global environmental awareness event organized by the World Wide Fund For Nature (WWF), on 28 March 2009, to send a powerful global mebout environmental awareness and caring for the planet. Sheraton Utama Hotel will observe Earth Hour by turning off its lights and taking other energy-saving measures for one full hour further underscoring Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to environmental sustainability.

is drawing strong support from Starwood hotels around the globe.

“Not only do we have the support of Starwood hotels, but also from the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Development for this global campaign to play a part in making a difference,” states Hasfazanizam Hasman, Chief Engineer of Sheraton Utama Hotel.

To further promote the global campaign, Sheraton Utama Hotel is launching a one week long Environmental and Energy Saving Week starting from 23rd to 28th March 2009 to create awareness on climate change.

The Hotel will take several measures such as turning off exterior lighting; dimming or turning off non-essential interior lighting; using candlelight in appropriate public areas such as restaurants. Dine at Sheraton’s Tasek Brasserie, Deals Restaurant and Pizza Connection for a candle light dinner with loved ones in support of this worldwide event.

Starwood made history in 2006 when it launched Element Hotels, Starwood’s green trailblazer and the first major hotel brand to mandate that all U.S. properties pursue the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED certification. Across its entire portfolio, Starwood is rolling out initiatives that aim to conserve energy and water, reduce waste and enhance indoor environmental quality for Starwood guests and associates alike.
